Recommended places in Paris – the ten attractions not to be missed
Main Menu

Millions of people from all over the world consume what Paris has to offer. It is the center of the world and cannot be escaped or bypassed. First place in the world in tourism. A city of Monuments Possessing immense power that forces its visitors to constantly look at their surroundings.

It is a magnetic city where time seems to stand still. A city of lust for life that forces us to return to it again and again. It forced me to do so countless times, during which I was exposed to most of its secrets and secrets. Supreme happiness, a kind of therapy and spiritual elevation – this is what I feel when I land in Paris.

I have my head in the clouds and almost every place seems more beautiful and interesting than the last. Therefore, the task that the editor of “Francophiles Anonymous” has assigned me – to list the 10 must-see places in Paris – is actually an impossible task. Or if you like, it is even a seemingly illegal demand.

So how do you choose just ten recommended places in Paris?

However, there is something very challenging about turning an impossible task into something quite possible. But how do you do it? How do you “pull out” your top ten list from hundreds of amazing sites and places? How do you guarantee yourself that in two days you won’t regret a spectacular and beloved place that didn’t receive a maximum rating and as a result you will have to torment yourself for a long time?

Well, to soften those expected pangs of conscience, I will use a kind of “go without and feel with” method – I will begin, then, by mentioning my second and third top ten. Those places that, although they did not get to walk at the top of my personal parade, are connected and strongly tied to the feelings of my heart.

In places 21-30 (internal order is purely coincidental) march: Musée d'Orsay, the Bookinists, Center Pompidou, The passages, Saint-Louis Island, Crazy Horse Club, Flower Park inVincennes Forest, Vergalan Square, Notre Dame Cathedral וTuileries Gardens.

In places 11-20 (also in random order) are: Monceau Park, Moftar St., The Opera House, Bagatelle Park, The Louvre Museum, Trocadero Observation Deck, Place de la Tarter, Village de Bercy, City Hall Building AndChamps Elysees.

And for the top ten – I put together the list like this: one neighborhood, one entertainment and recreation site, one restaurant, one spectacular lookout, one bridge, one river, one lake, one garden, one museum and one park. Here too, there is no internal ranking between the sites, but I will emphasize that when asked what my one favorite place in Paris is, the answer is unequivocal – the Luxembourg Gardens. This is the place where I spent the most time of all the wonderful sites of the city and it is probably the only site that I have never skipped in all my dozens of visits to Paris.

Luxembourg Gardens:

The place to go for a walk and relax in Paris. This wonderful and magnificent garden, covering an area of 230 hectares, is located in the heart of the city up the Boulevard Saint-Michel and holds a special place in the hearts of many Parisians and tourists. Many artists, poets, writers and philosophers have paid tribute to this charming place.

Naturally, the garden is crowded with people and it seems that nothing is missing in the Luxembourg Gardens: a large ornamental pond where children sail small sailboats, a 17th-century palace that today serves as the residence of the French Senate, a museum with changing exhibitions, the Medici Fountain, lawns, statues, children's rides on ponies, chess tables for amateurs, tennis courts and petanque courts, and of course giant trees planted in straight rows and flowers in spectacular colors.

The Seine River's dividing points:

The Seine River is spectacular along its entire length. It is one of the most beautiful and most developed rivers in Europe. At two points at the ends of the islands of Paris, the river splits into two branches, where it becomes especially magical and romantic. At the Place de la Vergne below the Pont Neuf At the end of the Seine, there is a wonderful view of the Louvre Museum and its surroundings, and on the other side, at the shady eastern end of the Île Saint-Louis, in a particularly green place called Place Bari. There, too, you will find a lot of romance and couples in love, and you can enjoy a spectacular view of the river and its surroundings, including the back of the Notre Dame Church that stands nearby.

Bute Chaumont Park:

One of the most beautiful and unique gardens in Paris is located in the 19th arrondissement. It is called PARC DES BUTTES CHAUMONT. You will find all the ingredients needed for a magnificent garden: artificial mountains and valleys, a large lake, hanging bridges, a cave, a spectacular waterfall, a cliff with an ancient Roman-style temple on top, and lots and lots of greenery and water. Do not miss out on visiting the huge waterfall located inside the cave at the foot of the Roman temple. It is a bit difficult to find – follow the sound of the flowing water. Simply a small and very pleasant paradise. Metro station: BUTTES CHAUMONT or BOTZARIS.

Saint-Germain district:

If I lived in Paris, I would like to live in the Saint-Germain district. It is my favorite of all the city's districts. It is an intimate, quiet, beautiful, romantic neighborhood with glorious roots. A classic, typical area of the Left Bank. Suffice it to mention a few places and streets that make it so attractive: Boulevard Saint-Germain, Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Odeon, Musée d'Orsay, the intellectuals' cafes, Fürstenberg Square, Luxembourg Gardens.

RUE ST ANDRE DES ARTS and its surroundings, at No. 59-61 is the Saint-André commercial courtyard with interesting restaurants and shops. At the end of the street is a small and pleasant market called De Bussy, a very popular place for local housewives to do their morning shopping, and to the right is another attractive street - RUE JACOB with its variety of small hotels, antique shops, collectors' shops, publishing houses and interior design offices, and the continuation of the University Street, RUE DU BAC, and at the end of the street is one of the largest and oldest department stores in Paris: AU BON MARCHE. Not far from here is the pleasant Saint-Sulpice Square with the beautiful Saint-Sulpice Church and Rue Bonaparte.

Alexander III Bridge:

Arguably the most beautiful bridge in Paris. An ornate bridge adorned with flamboyant statues of gold-plated cupids, ornate street lamps, statues of nymphs and horses. The bridge extends from the Grand Palais area on the right bank and overlooks the impressive view of The invalid On the left bank. Its surroundings exude a great power that makes the place particularly impressive.

AQUABOULEVARD DE PARIS:

A huge complex that is a unique entertainment, sports and recreation site. A spectacular place, unknown to tourists, different from anything else in Paris, is located at the last stop of metro line 8, the BALARD station. It is a kind of exciting country club that includes huge and magnificent swimming pools, some of which are indoor and some of which are open. Inside the pools are many attractions - islands, cafes, climbing posts, water currents, giant slides, a bubble bath, a wave machine and more. There are also gyms and even a helicopter pad - in short, the most beautiful country club you have ever seen.

One of the advantages of this “healthy” place is that tourism has not yet arrived. If you don’t want to swim, you don’t need an entrance ticket – take the escalator to the second floor and stroll through the corridors between the shops, cinemas, restaurants and cafes, with an amazing view of the pools to your right.

The view from the steps of the Sacra-Car:

If someone were to ask me to choose the right first view of Paris for them, I would lead them at dusk to two lookouts: one from the steps of the Sacré-Coeur and the other from the Trocadero on the square of the Palais de Chaillot.

It is said that a young boy from Tel Aviv, who didn't really like his mother-in-law, bought her a ticket Flight to Paris Because they told him that there was a “breathtaking view” there. Indeed, if there are places that can be defined as “breathtaking,” these are the two places: the Sacré-Coeur and the Trocadero. It was difficult for me to choose between them and finally I decided to include the view from the steps of the Sacré-Coeur church on this list. It is a very impressive view.

The square is always bustling with people of all genders and ages. The view is stunning and the atmosphere is special. At sunset and twilight, stunning panoramic views of the city can be seen from there. After you have finished rubbing shoulders with the crowds of people who fill the place, you are invited to enter the beautiful church and then continue to Tartar Square, the nearby Artists' Square, and wander through the narrow alleys of the neighborhood. Montmartre The magical one.

The lakes of the Bois de Boulogne:

“I will not describe the Bois de Boulogne. I cannot do so. It is simply a beautiful space. Well-kept, endless and wonderful. It is a magical place,” wrote Mark Twain, and I agree with him. In my opinion, above all stand the wonderful lakes of the forest – Lac Superieur and Lac Inferieur. Of course, you can enjoy a boat ride on the lakes or simply be content with sitting by the water’s edge and admiring the view and the calm atmosphere. It is important to do this during daylight hours, because at night the forest surroundings become dubious.

Flunch

FLUNCH Restaurant

Even though Paris is the world's gastronomic capital, I recommend a cheap, local place. If you're not looking for delicatessen or unique French dishes, you can eat here again and again and enjoy a huge variety of dishes and a wide, changing menu that guarantees fresh, cheap food.

This is a restaurant called FLUNCH, located opposite the northern wall of the Pompidou Center, at the entrance to the Clock Quarter, at 21 Rue de Beaubourg, corner of Rambuteau Street, (the restaurant has another branch near Clichy Square at 1 Rue Caulaincourt). This is a self-service “workers’ restaurant” with excellent grilled meats, with a variety of main courses of all kinds, with food cooked for the masses, with a large selection of first and last courses: salads, cakes, Cheeses And more. The huge variety of dishes attracts the masses who enjoy cheap, tasty and quick meals. For example, you can order a steak or a hamburger on the grill and get free access to a huge bar of hot toppings, all for less than 10 euros. Worth it.

  2. Hello Zvi,

A highly invested and fascinating site. Diverse, dynamic. A beautiful enterprise.

My brother lives in Paris and we visited it several times. Here I find a lot of inspiration for more and more.

If relevant – although it is not exactly Paris, I traveled specifically about a year and a half ago, on a winter morning from Paris to Saint-Germain or La and from there to a nearby neighborhood – to locate the grave of the late Rose Pisam Hertena. And indeed I found it in a small cemetery.

If this story is appropriate for the site, I would be happy to write about this sad trip in detail.

    Best regards, Ofir Edelman 0505480003.

    • Hello Ophir,

      Very nice to meet you.

I read your comment while walking on the banks of the Yarkon. It's chilling...

And yes, I would really love for you to write about your sad tour of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. I do love Paris very much, but the site is about all of France.
