One of the questions people planning a trip to Paris ask me is whether it is worth buying the Museum Pass or similar tickets that are offered for sale, such as the Go City attraction tickets, which allow entry to a variety of interesting sites in Paris. These are not cheap tickets, but they allow entry to a large part of theParis attractions and museums, and some even include free travel on public transportation. There are all kinds of such tickets, and they also change all the time.
There is no clear answer to the question of whether it is worth buying these tickets (just as there is no clear answer to the question Where should you sleep in Paris? Therefore, I will try to help you come to your own conclusion about which card best suits your needs.

How do I receive the card after purchase?
are youMuseum ticket Available at the address indicated on the website. Go City cards can be downloaded to your mobile phone or printed at home.
My tip: The tickets are valid for a year and are activated as soon as you enter the first attraction. Therefore, I recommend, if you arrive in the morning, to dedicate the day to “administrative” tasks such as picking up the ticket from the office, finding a good boulangerie and taking a short walk in your area. I recommend postponing entry to the sites for another day, because on the first day you will be tired from lack of sleep and will feel like a zombie.
Where do you buy the different tickets?
Museum card: I highly recommend Purchase it here – Purchasing there is easy and convenient, and you can also search for other interesting attractions there.
City Go cards: Here you can purchase the Explorer Card, AndHere you purchase the All Inclusive ticket..
Who is it worth buying the Paris attraction tickets for?
After I tried to provide you with all the information about the tickets, it's time to try to answer the question for which we gathered: who is worth buying the museum ticket and who is not.
This is my subjective answer on the subject:
Who is it worth buying the museum ticket or Go City tickets?
- People who like to see as much as possible: If you are one of those who tries to cram as much as possible into each day of travel, then there is no doubt that this card will provide you with very serious financial savings.
- People who wanted to include a cruise on the Seine and other activities in their trip, along with visiting museums and monuments. – For this purpose, choose a Museum Pass with a cruise option.
- People traveling with children: When you buy the ticket, you don't have to stand in line (a huge advantage when it comes to children).
- People interested in visiting the Louvre and other major museums: One of the biggest dangers of visiting a huge museum like the Louvre is “art poisoning,” because after a few hours a normal person simply gets tired of all the sights and artwork and can’t really enjoy them. Using the museum pass allows you to enter and exit the Louvre as much as you want, so you can see different parts of it every day without getting tired.
Who is better off buying individual tickets to museums and attractions?
- People who like to travel comfortably: If you're like me, people who don't want to turn their vacation in Paris into an endless rush between Museums and monuments (I call it an “art trip”), then you will probably want to see one museum per day (maximum). In that case, it will not be financially worthwhile for you to purchase the museum ticket.
- Those traveling on a limited budgetIn that case, you will probably prefer free museums such as: The Carnival And you won't want to pay the price of museum tickets.
- For those who don't like to plan in advance: It is perfectly legitimate not to make complex plans, wander the streets, drink coffee and eat croissants, and not look for ready-made routes in your head. If you mainly like to “walk around” or shop – you don’t need these tickets.
I hope I was able to help you with your hesitation about these tickets. I would be very happy to hear from you whether you ultimately decided to buy one of the museum tickets or not and what were the criteria that influenced your decision. You are welcome to share your opinion on the subject with me and the other readers of the site in the comments 🙂
Today with Corona, you need to book in advance for all places. If we have the ticket, then don't we need to book in advance? Thank you
It will still be necessary to reserve seats at some museums such as the Louvre (the reservation itself is free once you enter your ticket details).
Hello
A few questions about the Paris Pass –
Does the City Pass, which is part of the ticket, allow access to all public transportation in the city?
Why do I have to go to the tourism office to get the card? Can't I manage the approval/receipt/activation via the internet?
Despite purchasing the ticket, do I need to reserve places for the museums I want to visit? If so, can I do this right there on the website? Is the reservation limited in hours?
Thanks in advance
Hi Yaron,
The card that allows public transportation is valid for all types of transportation (metro, buses, and even the Montmartre cable car).
Why do you have to get it at the tourist office? Ask the French :). Hopefully in the future everything will be done via an app and not a physical card and then there will be no problem.
In small museums, there is no need to reserve seats, but in large and famous museums, such as the Louvre, it is necessary to do so (via the Internet).

Thank you so much! I'm planning a trip and your site is helping me a lot.
Thanks for the support 🙂
Hello, as far as I understand, there is no combined transportation and attractions ticket. These are 2 separate tickets, each with its own features and different payment according to the requirements. If I'm wrong, I would be happy to receive further guidance because it would make it very easy as a tourist. I helped myself with a local friend who didn't understand where I got the information from because it was probably wrong. You can check for yourself and update the article. Because I came away confused. Thanks 🙂
You are right. Recently the PARIS PASS changed and now it only allows travel on the tourist bus and auto rickshaw. I have updated the content on the website accordingly.
I ordered a ticket on the app for one day.
What do you mean by one day? Can I only use it on that day? There were just places that didn't have space on that day and I had to spread it over three days at different sites.
Hi Odelia,
From the moment you present your card at the first museum, you begin to count down 24 hours during which you can visit as many museums as you want (provided they appear on the list, of course).

First of all, thank you for all the investment. We're coming next week and are considering the Paris Pass. The problem is that I went to purchase and it seems to me that there is a lack of correlation between the list here and what they advertise. The sample here says there is no Eiffel and there says there is up to the second floor. There are more samples. Is the list here actually up to date? We are talking about the Paris Passlib: Official City Pass
I don't know the card you showed. Could you give me a link please?
Additionally, it states that you only have to choose 3 of the attractions, from which I understand that not all of them are included. If that's true, it's much, much less attractive, isn't it?
Choose 3 activities from the following:

Does everyone pay the same price for both types of tickets? Is there a price for a family ticket? Thanks in advance

Hi me,
As far as I know, there is no family card.

The museum card website states that it allows one-time entry to each attraction, and according to this, it is impossible to 'split' the visit into different times as you wrote... It is also important to note that there are many museums where you need to reserve a place in advance, (for free), even if you have the museum card, like the Louvre, for example.
