in short
There is no hotel in Paris that is entirely kosher, and that is the first thing you should know. What there are are hotels with kosher breakfasts and solutions for Shabbat-observants, and I have compiled the recommended ones here by region.
  • The first truth: There are no fully kosher hotels in Paris. There are hotels that serve a kosher breakfast under the supervision of the Paris Court of Justice.
  • The central area: The Opera District (9th), where the kosher restaurants and synagogues are also concentrated.
  • Alternatives: The Jewish Marais district (districts 3 and 4), and the 8th district near the Chabad House on the Champs-Elysees.
  • For Sabbath keepers: Some hotels in the 9th arrondissement offer a mechanical key and a Shabbat plate. It's worth requesting in advance when booking.
  • Position before stars: The distance from the synagogue and restaurants is more important than the hotel's rating, especially on Shabbat when walking.

Looking for a kosher hotel in Paris? Let's get it straight: There are no hotels in Paris that are completely kosher, but there are several hotels (such as Hotel Aida Opera and Touring) in the 9th arrondissement that serve a kosher breakfast under the supervision of the Paris Beit Din, and offer convenient solutions for Shabbat-observants such as mechanical keys and Shabbat plates. The most recommended areas for accommodation for observant Jews are the Opera district (9th arrondissement) , the Marais (Jewish) district , and the 8th arrondissement area near the Chabad House on the Champs-Elysées.

As in the case of searching for kosher restaurants in Paris , there are quite a few people interested in finding a kosher hotel so they can spend their trip to the City of Lights with peace of mind. That's why I prepared this article for you.

Which hotel is right for you? Quick decision table

Your need Recommended hotel למה דווקא הוא? Invitation
For those who observe Shabbat and Kosher Hotel Aida Opera Official supervision for breakfast, a kosher supermarket across the street, and proximity to the Great Synagogue. Availability check
Cheap and affordable budget Hotel Lebron Excellent value for money, kosher breakfast and excellent location in the 9th district. Availability check
Close to Chabad House Champs Elysees Sonder Atala Only a 2-minute walk from the Chabad House. Excellent and convenient for Friday and Saturday meals. Availability check
For pampered families and couples Hotel 34B Astotel Boutique design, free minibar, and a short walk from kosher restaurants. Availability check

There are a number of hotels in Paris that serve a full kosher breakfast. However, unlike hotels in our country, “breakfast” is a fairly limited affair (don’t expect a lavish Israeli buffet), and it may be worth it to buy kosher groceries at the supermarket and cater for yourself instead of paying for a hotel breakfast. For the kosher traveler, the ideal location is probably the 9th arrondissement, the Marais (3rd and 4th arrondissements) or their surroundings, which are far enough away from the very expensive center to be relatively affordable, and close enough to synagogues like “La Victoire” and a variety of places to eat.

How to check reviews correctly?

Every hotel has positive and negative reviews, some relevant and some not. Always look at the average, and also at expectations. It is highly recommended to look at “Guest Photos” online to get an impression of what the hotel, and the room you are about to book, really look like, without the marketing department’s Photoshop.

🏠
Perfect apartment for Sabbath-keepers in the 17th arrondissement

This article is about hotels, but let me first recommend an apartment that is perfect for religious people. It is a two-story apartment (a large living room with a kitchen upstairs and a bedroom downstairs), located in the heart of the 17th arrondissement, where a sizable Jewish community lives. As a result, you will find a number of kosher shops and restaurants within walking distance (and the Chabad House, located on the Champs-Elysees, can also be reached on foot).

The apartment is within walking distance of Parc Monceau and the metro, where line 2 passes, so you can get to Montmartre and the Champs Elysees very quickly.

Since it is on the ground floor and does not have an elevator or electric gate, there is no fear of desecrating the Sabbath when opening or closing the entrance gate to the building. In short, if you are kosher-observing and have come with a family, you probably won't find a more convenient place.

Kosher hotels in Paris (Opera Quarter area)

  1. Opera Aida

    Hôtel Aida Opéra

A three-star kosher hotel in Paris, not far from the Louvre. It serves a strictly kosher breakfast supervised by the Paris Court of Justice. The rooms are air-conditioned and include an electric kettle, and Shabbat keys and a kettle can be provided for the room. There is a kosher supermarket across the street from the hotel, which makes life much easier. The reviews are very good, but it is important to adjust expectations regarding the breakfast – it is continental and not a huge buffet.

  2. Touring Hotel Paris

    Touring Hotel

The Touring Paris Hotel is a classic. It doesn’t have a standalone restaurant, but it does serve a decent kosher breakfast. There are plenty of kosher restaurants nearby. The hotel can reportedly provide a Shabbat platter and help with the local community’s intentions. The only downside: If you’re planning to eat Friday dinner at a Chabad house, it’s more than 5km each way, so it’s best to rely on the synagogues and restaurants in the 9th arrondissement.

  3. Hotel 34B Astotel

    Hotel 34B – Astotel

Although not officially defined as a “kosher hotel,” it is considered a favorite among the traditionalist Israeli audience, and is suitable for those looking for recommended hotels for families. It is located in the 9th district, close to a variety of kosher restaurants. The Estotel chain is known for its free in-room minibar with soft drinks, and a free snack buffet in the lobby that can fill many corners during your vacation.

  4. Hotel Lebron

    Hôtel Lebron

If you're on a budget, the Luberon Hotel is a practical and economical alternative. It's popular with kosher-observants because of its particularly affordable price compared to the French capital. The hotel offers the option of a kosher breakfast (it's highly recommended to check and request in advance when booking). It's in the heart of the lively 9th arrondissement, a short walk from metro stations and restaurants.

  5. Hotel Havana Opera

    Hôtel Havane

A nice hotel in Paris, the main advantage of which is the short distance to the Bethel synagogue. It is a small and simple hotel, not particularly luxurious. The hotel serves a kosher breakfast by appointment and gives peace of mind. It is very close to the Poly Brager club, even if you probably came more for the Shabbat meal and less for the cabaret, it is still nice to be in such a central location.

Recommended hotels near Chabad House in Paris

It is important to clarify: these are not kosher hotels per se, but they are located within a reasonable walking distance of the Chabad houses in Paris, allowing you to arrive on foot on Friday evening and easily return to your room after a hearty Shabbat meal. Here are some great options near the Chabad house on the Champs-Elysees and in the Bastille/ Le Marais area.

  1. Hotel Barrière Fouquet's Paris

    Hôtel Barrière Fouquet's Paris

Located on the corner of the Champs Elysées and Avenue George V. This is a super luxurious five-star hotel with a spa and swimming pool. Staying here allows you to enjoy a completely luxurious vacation and still be close to Chabad on Shabbat. All rooms in the hotel have been designed by famous designers, and the hotel itself is just a five-minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe.

  2. Survey Atala Champs-Élysées

    Survey Atala Champs-Élysées

A beautiful four-star hotel, just 100 meters from the Champs Elysées. The hotel is decorated in an Art Deco style and filled with works of art. The absolute proximity to the Chabad House makes it one of the most perfect and convenient hotels for religious travelers on the weekend, and the George V metro station is a stone’s throw away for midweek trips.

  3. Sofitel Paris Arc De Triomphe

    Sofitel Paris Arc De Triomphe

A five-star hotel with a modern design, allowing quick access to the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysées. Offers a first-class hospitality experience. The rooms are equipped with Balmain toiletries and high-quality beds of the Sofitel chain standard. This is a wonderful solution for Shabbat-observers who want to pamper themselves without being far from the vibrant activities of the Chabad House in the area.

  4. Hotel near Chabad Bastille

    Hotel Marais Bastille

A very nice three-star hotel, a short walk from Chabad Bastille and the charming Place des Vosges. If you want to explore the Jewish Quarter (Marseille) during the day, this is a great strategic location. It has a small library, air-conditioned rooms and free Wi-Fi.

  5. ibis Paris Bastille Opera

    ibis Paris Bastille Opera

A 3-star hotel from the well-known Ibis chain. It is located about half a kilometer from Place de la Bastille and provides a safe and relatively inexpensive solution for staying in the city. The hotel offers clean, air-conditioned rooms (a feature that is not taken for granted in Paris!). Its proximity to the Chabad House makes it a very smart budget option for Shabbat-observants in the Marais area.

Frequently asked questions about a kosher hotel in Paris

Is there a kosher hotel in Paris?
Not in the Israeli sense of the word. There are no hotels in Paris that are all kosher, but there are hotels in the 9th arrondissement that serve a kosher breakfast under the supervision of the Paris Beit Din, and offer solutions for Shabbat-observants such as mechanical keys and plates. Hôtel Aida Opéra and Touring are the best-known of them.
Which areas in Paris are most recommended for those who observe kosher and Shabbat?
Three. The Opera district (9th) is the central one, thanks to the synagogues and kosher restaurants nearby. The Marais district (3rd and 4th districts) is the historic Jewish district. And the 8th district is suitable for those who want to be close to the Chabad house on the Champs-Elysees.
Are there any hotels near the Chabad House on the Champs-Elysees?
Yes. There are several excellent hotels, which are not kosher themselves, within a short walk of the Chabad House, including Sonder Atala Champs-Élysées and Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe. This is a convenient option for those planning to dine there on Shabbat.
Where can I find a kosher hotel in France outside of Paris?
Mainly in Nice and Cannes on the Riviera, where there is a large Jewish community and kosher restaurants, and to a lesser extent in Marseille and Strasbourg. In other French cities, the practical solution is usually an apartment with a kitchen rather than a hotel.
What is the most recommended hotel for kosher people in Paris?
Hôtel Aida Opéra in the 9th arrondissement is also the most popular choice among Israeli travelers. Reasons: Officially supervised breakfast, kosher supermarket across the street, and proximity to the Great Synagogue. Those looking for something cheaper in the same area will find Hôtel Lebron.
Is it possible to get a mechanical key and a Shabbat plate at the hotel?
Some hotels in the 9th arrondissement do, but it doesn't work automatically. You have to specifically request it when you book, not when you check in on Friday afternoon, and it's worth checking again the day before arrival.
Where to eat kosher in Paris?
Most kosher restaurants are concentrated in the 9th arrondissement around Rue Richer and in the 19th arrondissement. The Marais has mainly Jewish Eastern European food. I have compiled the full list in a separate article on kosher restaurants in Paris.
