Recommended hotels in the 19th arrondissement of Paris (Butte de Chaumont and Parc de la Villette)

One hundred and forty-four rooms on nine floors on the banks of the Bassin de la Villette, in a hard-to-miss wood-paneled building. The rooms were renovated in 2019 and the public areas in 2023, and thirty-two of the rooms have a balcony or a view of the marina. Breakfast is included and served from 7:00 to 10:30, there is a spacious terrace facing the canal and private parking under the building, and the family rooms are 25 meters by four. Riquet station on line 7 is a two-minute walk away. Note that there is no restaurant at the hotel, only light food at the bar. I recommend asking for a superior room with a canal view.

A large hotel on Avenue de Flandre with its own restaurant, which is a real asset when you arrive with tired children at 8pm. There are family rooms for four, a free cot and eight accessible rooms, all of which are air-conditioned. There is also a private car park with an electric charging station, and if you forgo daily cleaning you get five euros back. Corentin Cariou and Crimée stations on line 7 are about a quarter of a kilometre away, and Parc Butte Chaumont is within walking distance. Note that the hotel is adjacent to the Périphérique on the northern edge of Paris. I recommend it for families who want dinner without going out.

Just nineteen rooms on Rue de Crimée, in a fully renovated 19th-century building: parquet floors, soundproof windows and air conditioning in every room. There is a lounge bar and coffee corner, and continental breakfast is served from seven to ten. Crimée station on line 7 is one hundred and twenty meters away, and Bassin de la Villette is a four-minute walk, as are the three outdoor pools that are open there for free from mid-June to mid-September. Note that the hotel is very small, does not accept pets, and the rooms are compact. I recommend booking early, as the nineteen rooms fill up quickly in summer.

About forty rooms on Avenue Secrétan, in a hotel that sits right between the Canal Saint-Martin, the Habsan de la Villette and Butte Chaumont. The breakfast room is colorful and successful, the reception is open around the clock and cold water is provided for guests all day. Jaurès station with lines 2, 5 and 7 bis is one hundred and twenty meters away, and from there two stops Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est. Please note that when booking it is not always clear whether you will get a double bed or two separate beds. The hotel also accepts animals for an additional fee, and the rooms are air-conditioned with a coffee and tea tray. I recommend that you explicitly mention this in the booking notes, because they usually manage to accommodate this.
