Culinary tours in Paris, French cooking workshops and wine tastings

Food and wine are an integral part ofFrench culture No less than history or art. For me, a culinary tour is the best way to “breathe” the city through the glands in your mouth. Let’s embark on a journey of flavors between the boulangerie that exudes the intoxicating smell of butter and the patisserie that displays edible works of art.

The tours I have put together for you here are what I call “Jaw-Smacking Tours.” They include visits to lively markets, shops, French cheeses Antiques and encounters with local producers. This is not just physical satiety, but a deep understanding of the Parisian DNA.

A warm recommendation from the FrancophileThese were a few tours and workshops that I tweezed together especially for my audience, but Paris is endless. There are quite a few other tours and workshops that I didn’t mention that are also very worth checking out, in case none of the tours and workshops I recommended exactly suit your taste or schedule.

Questions and answers about culinary tours

Are the tours suitable for vegetarians?
In most cases, yes. France has come a long way and most guides will be happy to adapt tastings if you let them know in advance about any dietary restrictions.
Are there kosher tours?
The supply of organized kosher tours is small. The best solution is a private tour or simply wandering around the Mara (the Haltzel district) where there are plenty of excellent kosher options.
Do I need to book in advance?
Of course! The good tours (especially Ran Vardi's) fill up months in advance. As soon as you have your plane tickets – reserve a spot.
The Francophile's tipDon't make the mistake of eating breakfast at the hotel before the tour! You're going to eat a lot (a lot). Come hungry, with comfortable walking shoes and a culinary curiosity.

  1. Great post. But an important question, because it wasn't clear to me from reading, and I didn't go to the links right now. What language are the tours in? I admit that I prefer tours in Hebrew. To date, I have done such, the big cities I've been to (not all of them culinary). The guide always lived in the same city, understood the language and was therefore very reliable and knowledgeable. For example, I don't know French, but I understand English, so it's important to know if the tours are at least in English, and I think it's important to specify the language. From personal experience, I took a culinary tour with one of the well-known guides, which was very expensive but wonderful. Sometimes the experience is worth the money 🙂 But, of course, I would love to experience additional, less expensive tours.

    • Hi Zippy.

All the tours I've written about are in English. I only know of one culinary tour in Hebrew, and whoever does it doesn't need my advertising. These tours (or at least the tour I did) are often significantly cheaper and the experience they provide is just as good (maybe even better sometimes, because the people who run these tours are often people from the French food industry).

      • Thank you, you answered me. And you noticed that I didn't mention names either, and that was on purpose. I certainly respect what you wrote. I'm not comparing the tours, if that's what you understood. For example, I always prefer tours in Hebrew, wherever possible. Sometimes I'm also willing to pay more because of the language, it's just easier for me to pay attention to different things that way. This is of course very personal.

  2. Thank you very much for the information. Could you please provide me with a little more detail so that I can pass this on to the company that gave me the coupon?

  3. Hi Zvi,

    Thank you.
I just tried to order through the secret food tours website, and only at the billing stage does a booking fee of 11 or so euros appear. Do you know of a way to order without the fee? Maybe by phone or something like that?

    Thanks,
