The 4th district of Paris Contains the vibrant southern part of the Marais district and The charming Ile Saint-LouisIn my opinion, this is one of the best areas to live: a winning combination of centrality, historic architecture (like Place de Vosges), close to the Seine River and the bustling Bastille Square.
Whether you choose the alleys of the Jewish Marais (Rue des Rosiers) or the aristocratic quiet of the Ile Saint-Louis, you are within walking distance of almost everything worthwhile in the city.
🏆 Francophile's Top Choices (AM;LC)
Luxury apartment near the Pompidou Center
A listed 19th century building in the heart of the Western Marais. The apartment offers top-class fittings and includes lift access.
The apartment in the north of the Mara (near the market)
A dream location near the “Red Children's Market” and Republic Square. The apartment is on a high floor with a great view and an elevator.
The apartment near the Picasso Museum
Apartment in a historic building in the heart of the quiet and elegant Marais area, a few steps from the Picasso Museum.
The 4th arrondissement is a major entertainment area. If you are sensitive to noise at night, look for apartments facing an internal courtyard (Cour) – like the apartment recommended above – or focus on the quieter Ile Saint-Louis area.
Apartments for up to 3 people

Cosy Marais
- On Rue de Rosier itself, the heart of the Jewish Quarter
- Air-conditioned, with parquet floors and a private entrance
- Only 14 square meters, and for a couple only
At 36 Rue des Rosiers, right in the Jewish Quarter and not far from it. It is a 14 m2 studio with air conditioning, parquet floors, a fully equipped kitchenette, separate toilet and shower, and a private entrance. The Saint-Paul metro station on line 1 is three hundred meters away, which means a direct line to the Louvre and the Champs-Elysées, and all The Mara Spread out around. Note that the number is real: 14 square meters is a maximum of two, and there is no option to add a bed. I recommend it to a couple who wants to walk out the door in the morning straight to the falafel and bakeries, and doesn't plan on spending time in the apartment.

Charming Studio
- Beams and exposed stone from the 18th century
- Independent entrance from the street and kitchen with dishwasher and Nespresso
- Ground floor, one double bed and no extra beds
Studio on Rue de la Cerisaie, with 18th-century exposed beams and stone and teak floors. The entrance is completely independent from the street through a reinforced door rather than through the building's lobby, and the windows face a quiet courtyard. The kitchen here is more serious than usual: oven, induction hob, dishwasher, dryer and Nespresso machine, and the bed linen and towels are from Kenzo Maison. Bastille and Saint Paul stations on line 1 are nearby. Note that it is on the ground floor, there is only one double bed and there is no possibility of adding a bed or cot. I recommend it to a couple who appreciates details and is willing to give up a view.

Lovely Studio
- One hundred meters from Saint Paul station on line 1
- Five minutes walk from Place des Vosges
- Ground floor, and check-in closes at 8pm
A ground floor studio in the heart of the 4th arrondissement, with a modern design, a seating area, a shower and a kitchenette with a fridge, hob and microwave. The advantage here is simple and practical: the Saint-Paul metro station is a hundred metres from the door, on line 1 which leads directly to the Louvre, and fromPlace de Vosges Separated by a five-minute walk. Restaurants and cafes start fifty meters away. Two caveats: the apartment is on the ground floor, which means less light and less privacy, and entry is only possible until eight in the evening. I recommend making arrangements in advance if your flight lands in the afternoon.
Apartments for up to 4 people

Le 38 Saint-Louis
- 56 square meters on Ile Saint-Louis, with a bedroom facing the courtyard
- Bakery and cheese shop on the ground floor
- There is no elevator, and the gallery bed is accessible by ladder
This apartment is located on Rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Île, the main street of the island, and is 56 m2 with a bedroom, a living room, a sofa bed and a gallery with an additional bed. There are beams and exposed stone, double-glazed windows, and the bedroom faces the inner courtyard and is therefore completely quiet. On the ground floor of the building there is a bakery and a cheese shop, andNotre Dame 550 meters away. This island feels like a small village within Paris, especially in the evening. Note that there is no elevator, that the bed in the gallery is accessible by a ladder, and that arrival after 8 pm involves an additional fee. I recommend it for a couple with one or two relatively older children.

CMG Rivoli
- Air-conditioned, two bedrooms and private entrance
- Seven minutes walk from Notre Dame
- One bathroom for two bedrooms, and no coops
Air-conditioned apartment with two bedrooms, a living room and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven and a coffee machine, on Rivoli Street, between the town hall and the château. There is a private entrance and soundproofing, which is important on such a main street. In terms of location, it's hard to complain: the Pompidou Center is about a six-minute walk, Notre Dame seven, and Sainte-Chapelle nine. The Hôtel de Ville metro station is nearby. Be aware of three things: there is only one bathroom for the two bedrooms, there are no playpens or extra beds, and the deposit is charged to the card two weeks before arrival and not on site. I recommend it for one family, not two couples sharing a room.
Apartments for 5 guests or more

Residences Harcourt
- Large apartment on Ile Saint Louis, a quiet and prestigious area
- Full kitchen and real space for the family
- There is no reception desk, and after 7pm you enter with a code
A large apartment on the Ile Saint-Louis, the island in the heart of the Seine, which is in my opinion the quietest corner of central Paris. It has bright rooms, a full kitchen and enough space for a whole family, which is especially rare at such an address. Around it are the banks of the Seine, The bridges And Notre Dame is a few minutes walk away, and the legendary Barthion ice cream parlor is on the same street. Please note that the operators do not have a reception desk: if you arrive before 7pm someone will meet you at the apartment, and after that time you will receive a code for a key box. I recommend letting them know your arrival time a few days in advance, and not on the day itself.

Apartment WS
- Eight apartments for two to six people
- Fully equipped kitchen with Nespresso and breakfast delivered to your door
- No air conditioning, only a fan
Eight family apartments for two to six people, right next to Center Pompidou. Self-check-in is available at any time and there is no reception desk, which is just what suits those who land at an odd hour. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen with a Nespresso machine and electric hob, TV, iron, safe and hairdryer, and bed linen and towels are provided. You can also order breakfast to be delivered to your door. Sainte Chapelle is a six-minute walk away. Please note that there is no air conditioning here, only a fan, which is significant in an August heat wave. I recommend them to a family who wants space in a central location and is willing to forgo hotel services.

Bourg Tibourg I
- Air conditioning, washing machine and elevator in the building
- Pedestrian square with restaurants and a bakery on the corner
- The elevator is very small, and only one bed can be added
On Rue du Bourg Tibourg, on a small pedestrian square full of restaurants and cafes, there are four apartments. All are air-conditioned, with a washing machine, a fully equipped kitchenette and a dining area, and the building has an elevator. One of them is a duplex with two bedrooms, so it is suitable for a family. The location here is excellent: the Pompidou Center is six hundred meters away, Sainte-Chapelle is a five-minute walk, andOther attractions in the 4th arrondissement Around. Please note that the elevator is very small and that you can only add one bed at most. I recommend requesting the duplex if you are four or more, and not settling for the studio.

Bourg Tibourg II
- Upper floor with a double bed and two singles
- Grocery store in front of the building and bakery on the corner
- Fourth floor with a very small elevator
The second unit at the same address, this time on the fourth and top floor. The arrangement here is comfortable for a family: a double bed and two single beds, air conditioning, a washing machine and a fully equipped kitchenette. What makes the real difference in a long stay is what is around: a grocery store right in front of the building, a bakery on the corner, and on weekends a local market nearby. I wrote more about the markets on the page The markets of Paris. Note that the elevator in the building is very small, and the fourth floor with luggage is quite a challenge. I recommend it for a family with relatively older children who can carry it themselves.

I didn't find any apartments with 2 bathrooms, is it possible?
I would be happy to recommend an apartment for 6 in the target area, the island, or something similar.
Thanks

Unfortunately, there are relatively few apartments with 2 bathrooms in the central parts of Paris. If I find such apartments and receive recommendations for them, I will add them to the page.
