Somewhere in the Latin Quarter, not far from the toxicology lab of theMarquise de Brinvilliers And with an amazing view straight toNotre DameThere is a laboratory that brews a sweet and delicious “poison.” It is a patisserie named A. Lacroix, which, in addition to the sweets it produces, also has an interesting love story.

The story of A. Lacroix

It all started with Jackie, a senior manager at Nokia, who moved from city to city every few years as part of her job, until she arrived in Paris. Since, as we all know, Paris is undoubtedly the most romantic city in the world, something about this romance stuck with her and she decided that this was the place to settle down. After a series of dates, the lady met Arnaud Lacroix, a French pastry chef, and love was ignited. Following that love, the two decided to open a patisserie together so that they could be together as much as possible. After much searching, the ideal place was found, right next to a small, ancient square with a view of Notre Dame Cathedral. The place has only been around for a few months, but it has managed to gain a number of fans not only thanks to its charming location and design, but, above all, thanks to the cakes and chocolate that are made there.

Arnaud's sweets

Arnaud's Patisserie makes a range of cakes, some classic and some unique, and they serve coffee ground on site and various types of special tea from the East inspired by Arnaud's wife. Since it was very difficult to choose between all the cakes in the display case, I decided to go for a different option and chose the chocolate mousse.

Since there is no dessert I love more than chocolate mousse, this was a test of “to be or not to be” because for me, this is where you can’t fail (second after chocolate mousse comes whipped cream, and if you combine the two, then for me this is the ultimate dessert). Fortunately, the mousse passed the test with a very high score. Its texture was airy, just like a mousse should be, and the precise chocolate flavors indicated that Arnaud did not skimp on the quality of the ingredients.

Unfortunately, since I'm trying to stick to a diet (who am I working for?), I limited myself to one dessert, but I can't help but tell you about their macarons, which are made from a special almond dough that comes from Italy. Also, the title of the most beautiful cake in the patisserie was easily won by the apple cake, which is a work of culinary art (if you happen to get there and eat it, I'd love to hear your opinion).

Arnaud's apple pie is just above Notre Dame Cathedral.

So if you're strolling through the Latin Quarter along this route, or just happened to be in the area and are craving something sweet and beautiful with a magical view and a great atmosphere, I highly recommend the place.

Many thanks to Yael Laxman-Bhat, a Paris expert and travel consultant, who told us about this place.
