The American writer and journalist Ernest Hemingway once wrote that “If you are lucky enough to live in Paris in your youth, it will remain with you forever.” Indeed, I was lucky enough, and when I was a teenager I joined my parents on a short mission to Paris, and Paris, as a welcoming city, captured my heart even then and remained with me for the rest of my life.

Paris – the most photographed city in the world

When I land in Paris – the city of limitless possibilities, the city of opulence, romance and architectural splendor – I don’t feel like a stranger. I’m not a tourist. I feel the embrace of the city. I’m at home. My main goal is to wander aimlessly. My main occupation in this wandering is photography – trying to preserve the past and present of a city that may no longer exist in the future.

Paris is a city that is good for the soul, an ideal place to make dreams come true. A city that is second to none and incomparable. A city that invites us to make endless unexpected discoveries. A city of inspiration, of elation, of lights and of lovers kissing on the banks of the Seine. A city of limitless possibilities. When you arrive there, it seems as if the whole world is spread out before you. It was probably built by God in his most romantic period.

It's not for nothing that Paris has become the most photographed city in the world. It's a tourist volcano. In this smiling and dizzying city, you can't leave your camera, not even for a few minutes. If you turn off your camera, you might miss a whole world. Because, at every step, at every corner, and at every exit from a random metro station, a surprise awaits – impressive buildings, magnificent parks, picturesque corners, houses dripping with history, special portraits of passersby, constant activity by street artists, the colorful life of cafes. In short, there is no dull moment. Simply a continuous celebration of photography that cannot be stopped or missed. A kind of paradise for photography enthusiasts.

Abundance and beauty like Paris cannot be found in any other city in the world. My humble camera recognizes this immediately and firmly demands that I work overtime. It refuses to rest. It refuses to get tired. This challenging journey has no beginning and no end. The great challenge is to succeed in photographing a city that is connected to its history, living in the now, with its face turned to the future and development. At the end of the process of preserving and commemorating Paris, when the photos land on my personal computer, the city's glorious past, present, and future are forever mixed together.

Only the air of Paris makes me get the best out of myself and my camera. For me, Paris, the city of power, culture and pleasure, is the most challenging city. It is exciting and attractive and leaves a strong impression on its visitors. It is the heart of the world. Those who do not visit it regularly will never understand this. You cannot get bored in Paris, it always gives you full value for your time. As you can probably imagine – I am in love. Even dozens of visits to Paris will not be enough for me to exhaust all its charms and charms. In fact, it is the only cultural powerhouse in the world that gathers around it a circle of fanatical fans, who return to it at every possible opportunity and study it in order to know it like the back of their hand, reset their minds and recharge their batteries. In fact, a biannual visit to Paris is cheaper and much more effective than a visit to a psychiatrist.

  1. In the church of Saint-Sulpice, on the left tower is the word “Jehovah” in Hebrew letters.
I didn't find any mention of the subject.
    Can I have details?

    • The explicit name is found in quite a few churches in France, so it's not much of a novelty. You can find it, for example, in one of the stained glass windows in the church of Île Saint-Louis.
