The summary of the lecture
The lecture dealt in its first part with the history of medical theory in the days of Napoleon, while reviewing the methods of treating diseases in those days (drugs that usually killed more patients than they saved).
In the second part of the lecture, we discussed a series of epidemics that occurred during the Napoleonic Wars, two of which completely disrupted military operations and led to defeat. These were the yellow fever of Haiti, the epidemic that broke out among the English forces in the Balkans, and the epidemic that attacked the French during the invasion of Russia.
During the lecture, Chen Sarov spoke about the symptoms of each of the epidemics, their causes, methods of treatment, and of course, how each of these epidemics affected Napoleon or the English.

Dr. Chen Sarov is a physician specializing in internal medicine at Kaplan Hospital.
Napoleon Heritage Center
The Israeli Center for the Napoleonic Heritage is essentially the Israeli branch of the World Napoleonic Society. The center was established in the late 20th century by the late Professor Mordechai Gihon. As part of the center's activities, a series of lectures are held each year, given by the best lecturers, related to Napoleon and his era.
