On December 28, 2023, a lecture by Alon Klibanov was held at the Kibbutzim Seminar, which dealt with the naval struggle between France and England between the years 1803-1805.

You are welcome to watch it now:

The summary of the lecture

The British Empire joined the campaign against France The French Revolution of 1793. In 1802, a peace treaty was signed in Amiens, France, joining a series of agreements that attempted to restore peace to Europe. After only 14 months, this treaty collapsed, and a state of war once again prevailed between the two countries. The First Consul, Bonaparte, decided to put an end to the British threat once and for all by launching a major invasion. A formidable force was organized on the banks of the Channel, around the city of Boulogne, and thanks to an effective training program, it became an effective and organized army. The British fortified their coasts, but threw their weight behind their “wooden walls” – the British Navy.

Mars, the god of war, challenged Neptune, the god of the sea. What was the outcome of this confrontation?
