The summary of the lecture
The victory at Trafalgar removed the threat of invasion from Britain and demonstrated its undisputed dominance at sea. At the same time, the collapse of the Third Coalition at Austerlitz and the complete defeat of Prussia in the campaign of 1806, led to the consolidation of Emperor Napoleon's undisputed rule on land.
In November 1806, Napoleon decided to open a new page in the annals of war by declaring economic war on Britain. For the first time in history, an attempt was made to bring an enemy to its knees by means of the "Continental Method" - a political, military and economic arrangement aimed at imposing a blockade on Britain and economically strangling it. Why would reality slap the military genius Napoleon in the face?
How would the Continental System not only fail in the intercontinental reality of Britain's absolute control of the seas, but also make a decisive contribution to the defeat of the Emperor and the fall of his reign?
Napoleon Heritage Center
The Israeli Center for the Napoleonic Heritage is essentially the Israeli branch of the World Napoleonic Society. The center was established in the late 20th century by the late Professor Mordechai Gihon.
