Louis XIV, who had become suspicious, sent a portrait painter to Bavaria with an unequivocal request to paint her in the most realistic way possible. After a few months, the painting arrived at Versailles and the entire royal family gathered to view the portrait and form an opinion.
According to the painting, the princess appeared “eating” and the king was about to invite the princess to Versailles. However, then a note from the ambassador was discovered, which claimed that the connection between the painting and the original was only coincidental and the painter’s interpretation of the princess’s nose was, how to say, somewhat creative.
The plot takes a surprising turn
Although the political negotiations were in their advanced stages, Louis XIV took pity on his son and was prepared to annul the marriage, despite all the political damage it would cause. However, to everyone's surprise, it was his son who insisted on marrying the Bavarian princess. The reason for this was his attraction to ugly women and, for him, the uglier the princess, the better.
When the princess arrived at Versailles, it turned out that Croasi had not exaggerated about the nose, but the Crown Prince was so pleased with what he saw that he insisted on marrying the princess immediately. The marriage between the Crown Prince and Maria Anna was very successful and the princess gave the Crown Prince 3 sons. However, to the Crown Prince's regret, the marriage did not last long and the princess died in 1690.
To cope with the loss, the Crown Prince decided to take as his mistress Mademoiselle de Choin, who had been his late wife's ugliest maid of honor and with whom he lived happily ever after. She was a huge woman with a huge mouth, bouncy breasts and of course...a huge nose.
