Maurice Bejart – French electronic music pioneer

In 1967, French dancer Maurice Béjart (1927-2007) decided to create a completely new dance music that mixed rock music with electronic music, which was still in its infancy. With this music, he created a successful dance show, and we hear a fragment of it called Messe Pour Le Temp Present:

Serge Gainsbourg and Michel Colombier create electronic music together

The musical piece we heard in the previous episode was one of the first electronic works and was discovered by, among others, Serge Gainsbourg. The result is that in 1968, Michel Colombier composed the following work together with Serge Gainsbourg and starring the one and only Brigitte Bardot.

Jean-Michel Jarre

We jump from 1967-1968 to 1976 and we hear the piece Oxygene (Oxygen) by Jean-Michel Jarre, perhaps one of the most famous electronic works in the history of French music.

Marc Cerrone

We jump to 1977 (the year of the Francophile’s birth) and to a French composer named Marc Cerron. Cerron creates disco music that is a very interesting mix between electronic music and “regular” instruments. We will hear the track Super Nature from the album of the same name:

Laurent Garnier

We continue in time to the 1993s and this time we are with Laurent Garnier, one of the most famous DJs in the world. The piece we hear is a XNUMX piece that launched him into an international career and is called Wake Up.

Daft Punk

We jump two years ahead to 1995 and the duo Daft Punk, who managed to create something completely innovative. They were so successful that President Macron asked the military orchestra to play a Daft Punk piece not so long ago at the parade of Bastille Day.

A French Jewish electronic music artist, whose influence is felt even in the US thanks to the music he wrote for the Black Eyed Peas:
