Nice – The Complete Traveler's Guide: Attractions, Hotels, Weather, and Recommendations
Main Menu

Nice is one of the most popular holiday destinations in France, both due to its location in the heart of the French Riviera and the fact that there are direct flights to it from Israel all year round. In July 2023 I was a guest of Nice Tourist Office And I was lucky enough to walk there and enjoy a little of what the city has to offer.

This article contains what I learned during my visit there, which included a visit toChagall Museum A tour of the Old City and a meal at two excellent restaurants. It is important to note that because I was in this city for a limited time, I did not have time to visit each and every one of its neighborhoods and attractions.

If you've come to Nice for a day or two, this guide will be perfect for you, but if you decide to stay longer and visit important places like the Promenade des Anglais, which I didn't have time to visit, you are welcome to visit the link to the Nice Tourist Office website, which I gave in the first paragraph (until I return to Nice for a longer time and can write about everything).

Nice is blessed with a pleasant Mediterranean climate all year round.

בspringFrom March to May, the weather starts to warm up, with average temperatures ranging from 13°C to 18°C. There isn’t much rain – April is the wettest month of the season, with around 50mm of rain. This is a great time to visit Nice, as the city isn’t too crowded, and the temperatures are comfortable for outdoor activities and enjoying the beaches. The sea may still be a bit chilly for swimming, but the beautiful blossoms and clear skies make Nice especially beautiful in the spring.

הsummer, from June to August, is the hottest and driest season in Nice. Average temperatures range from 20 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius, but there are also highs of 30 degrees. It can still rain here and there, but in negligible amounts. This is the peak of the tourist season, so the beaches and attractions can be crowded. It's the perfect time to sunbathe, swim and enjoy water sports.

הAutumn, from September to November, is a wonderful time to visit the French Riviera. Temperatures start to drop (14-23 degrees). Rainfall increases, and November is the wettest month of the year, with around 110 mm of rain. However, there are still plenty of sunny days, and the sea remains warm enough for swimming until mid-October. Much less crowded and crowded, and it’s a great time to enjoy exploring the local markets and vineyards.

The history of Nice

Before you start wandering through the alleys of Nice, I highly recommend that you learn a little about its fascinating history. There are quite a few excellent history books that deal with this, but if you don't have time to read them, you are welcome to read my article The history of Nice – from an Italian city to a French city And get a summary, which will help you understand what you will see during your trip.

Nice itinerary

Nice was the last stop on the press tour I did of the French Riviera on behalf of its tourist office. In Nice, each of the journalists and influencers was given a few hours off.

I decided to “invest” my hours in the old town of Nice. The itinerary shown here is the result of that visit, where I was able to walk wherever my feet took me. Since I had a limited time, I may not have had time to see and experience everything, but I believe that this itinerary can, at the very least, be a good starting point for getting to know Nice.
