Recommended hotels and vacation apartments in Marseille
Main Menu

The city of Marseille has not had the best reputation and is often portrayed as a busy, not particularly pretty, and sometimes even dangerous place. This is why quite a few Israelis prefer to skip it when visiting Provence.

And the truth is, in my opinion, it was a miss. I visited Marseille in November 2019 and discovered that it is a city that is a fine cocktail of cultures. It is a city located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, rooted in Europe and connected to North Africa, its important location since the 8th century BC has given the city its special character and the title – capital of Provence.

The smells of the market and spices that rise from the old Paynes neighborhood, laundry hanging between buildings next to modern galleries and boutiques, the Corniche promenade, the ancient port built by the Greeks, the new Museum of Civilizations, an amazing view of the city and the blue sea from the Notre-Dame-le-Garde church, and, no less importantly, its culinary heritage (don't leave the city without tasting the excellent Beauvoisin soup), all of these make Marseille a tourist gem.

Therefore, if you have decided to live in the city for a few days and enjoy everything it has to offer, you can find recommendations here for hotels in Marseille that suit every budget and excellent vacation apartments.
