Avignon is a tiny city with a huge history, museums, cathedrals, a university, a vibrant social life and impressive buildings like the Palace of the Popes (seven in number!). The amazing weather, small alleys and cobblestone streets are an amazing setting for the “Avignon Theater Festival” – a whole week where many plays are presented and dozens of street performances are held.
Avignon can be used for sightseeing tours in the surrounding area, in the vineyards of Provence, in the ancient villages, in the wineries, and of course in neighboring cities.
In this article, I will recommend some accommodations in Avignon for families, travelers who love pampering, and young people on a tight budget. I am sure you will find at least one place to stay here that you will like and that will serve as a base for a trip where you will discover the charms of Avignon in particular, and it is a shame Provence at all.
