Edna's luxurious apartments
Before we start with the hotels, I want to dedicate a separate chapter to Edna's apartments, which for me are a separate experience. Edna is an Israeli who has lived in the area for over 7 years, and rents apartments in Sarla that are furnished with taste and a lot of thought. The apartments are in an excellent location, about a 10-minute walk from the center, with adjacent parking.
Villa La Fontaine Sarlat La Caneda
This is the jewel in the crown of all the apartments that Edna offers. A charming 19th century mansion that is furnished entirely with period furniture and yet very luxurious and comfortable. The mansion is suitable for a large family or several couples of friends and will make you feel like members of a noble family.
Apartment Fontaine de l'Amour
If you don't need an entire mansion but simply a relatively large and luxurious apartment, this could be a great option. The apartment, located in the mansion complex, can easily accommodate a medium-sized family, and here you'll also find period furniture and an amazing shower.
Studio Fontaine d'amour
If you are a couple looking to discover Sarla and enjoy a luxurious, modern apartment and Edna's warm hospitality, this is just for you. The studio is located in the estate complex and is furnished in a modern style, with the goal of providing you with a luxurious base for your star trips.
Recommendations for luxurious hotels in Sarla
Château de Monrecour
I stayed here in 2019 and really enjoyed it. A palace located about a ten minute drive from Sarlat and offering rooms in the palace or in wooden houses. Good breakfast and a Michelin restaurant. Excellent location for star trips in the Black Périgord (near Baynac and La Roque Géjac).
Plaza Madeleine & Spa
A particularly luxurious hotel just a few minutes’ walk from the center of the Old City. Here you will find a luxurious pool, a spa with sauna and jacuzzi, and private parking. The restaurant offers a cooking workshop with the chef – a paradise for foodies.
Recommended 3-star hotels in Sarla
Le Clos de la Canéda
This is more of a hotel than a vacation rental, although it offers well-equipped apartments. You'll find a pool, an excellent breakfast, and plenty of activities for the whole family, including cycling, kayaking, and hiking in the area.
Hotel Le Mas de Castel
A very nice hotel located a few kilometers from the city of Sarla. The hotel has only 19 rooms, so it is recommended to book quickly. Those who manage to reserve a room will enjoy a heated pool, friendly staff and a beautiful garden.
Hotel Maison des Peyrat
A charming mansion about 1.5 km from Sarlat. Offers a heated pool and clean rooms. You can reach the town on foot, but the return requires a slight climb (great for burning off the calories from the food of Périgord).
Hotel Le Mas del Pechs
If the previous three-star hotels are occupied, it is recommended to check out this hotel, which is very similar to them and also offers a heated pool and 19 spacious rooms.
Hotel Bon Encontre
Located on a farm overlooking Sarla (less than a kilometer from the center). Wonderful host Christine, heated pool and sun loungers. Requires an easy hike from town or a short car ride.
The Cordeliers
A stunning and super clean B&B, in the center of Sarla, run by a very kind and friendly British couple (a warm recommendation from Sharona Yaniv).

The Three Gardens
An inexpensive but charming B&B located a five-minute walk from the city center. Offers secure parking - a significant advantage. The landlady, Jo, is incredibly friendly.
Abby's Hotel
A small and modest hotel about 5 km from Sarla. High value for a low price: clean rooms, shower, WIFI and free parking. Excellent and economical base for star trips.
Les Chambres du Glacier
If you are interested in a cheap hotel located right in the heart of Sarla, this is not a bad option at all. The rooms are spacious, the owners are charming, the prices are reasonable, and there is a good breakfast.
Hotel Le Madrigal
A 2-star hotel in the center of Sarla that feels more like a 3. Rooms with air conditioning (important in the summer!), soundproof windows, and even a small gym.
