Home in the Dorgdogne – Rotem and Uri's luxurious B&B in Brentum

One of the most important tasks when planning a trip to Périgord (or anywhere else in rural France) is to find an apartment/guesthouse/house/hotel that will be a good base for your star treks. The place should be well-located, so that you can easily get to anywhere from there. But at the same time, it must be pampering and pleasant, because at the end of each day full of experiences, you will return to it, and if you don't feel comfortable there, how will you gather energy for tomorrow?

Today I want to tell you about such a place. It is a B&B in Brentum, one of the magical towns of the green Périgord, which belongs to a charming Israeli couple. However, as you will see, it is much more than “just” a B&B, but rather a total hospitality experience, which will make your trip to Périgord unforgettable.

How did Rotem and Uri end up in Dordogne?

Before I tell you about the luxurious B&B at Rotem and Uri's house, maybe I should introduce them to you 🙂

Rotem and Uri were born in Israel and met at a young age. Both were, for many years, part of the working settlement and lived in Kibbutz Dvir and later in Moshav Avigdor. However, despite being strongly connected to the land (Rotem was the coordinator of the flower branch and Uri held various positions in the agricultural sector), both loved to travel abroad. And so they both visited quite a few European countries and eventually discovered that they, like me, were in love with France.

The years passed, the children grew up, and when they both saw that retirement was slowly approaching, they decided to fulfill a dream and start their lives anew, this time in France. Their first stop was in the Limousin region, but a visit to the town of Brentum made them fall in love with the place and decide that this was where they would build their home.

I won't bore you with all the historical details, but in the end, they both built a house on top of a hill, and since they both had a farming background, they also added a chicken coop and a vegetable garden to the house. To all of this, a cozy B&B was added, adjacent to their house, where Rotem and Uri have been hosting tourists from Israel for several years.

What will you find in a B&B and what type of accommodation awaits you?

Before we enter the B&B, let's take a moment to look at the surrounding "scenery." Imagine a large forest where you can walk, a garden where a large part of your future breakfast grows, a coop where Louis the white rooster roams, alongside his "wives" (who will provide you with eggs), and of course a large pool where you can swim in the summer. All of these are joined by Natasha the adorable poodle and the pair of cats Misha and Grisha, who live with her in complete harmony.

The spacious B&B is suitable for a family of up to six people and contains everything that fine travelers need. At the entrance to the B&B you will find the dining table where you will eat Rotem's delicious homemade breakfast, which includes vegetables from the garden and eggs from the chicken coop.

In the living room you will find a large, comfortable sofa that opens into a bed, a TV, a wood-burning fireplace (relevant if you arrive in the winter) and a small gift waiting for you there (a bottle of wine, fruit, or a cake that the hosts baked).

The kitchen, adjacent to the living room, is fully equipped and allows those of you who like to cook to prepare the local dishes (Rotem will always be happy to give you a recipe or two and tell you about the local cuisine 🙂 ). Those who don't like cooking as much, like me, can forgo the pleasure or, at the very least, heat up all kinds of foods that you can buy in the food stores in Brentum.

And finally, let's talk about the bedroom. Quite a few customers have said that they slept particularly well here. I don't know if it's the excellent mattress, the perfect silence, the flowers from the garden on the nightstand, or the excellent air, but either way, chances are you'll sleep like a baby here.

The magical atmosphere will help your creativity and the high-speed internet (which is going to be even faster thanks to the fiber that is currently being deployed in the area) will keep you connected everywhere.
