Brentom It is a small and amazing town in the green and rich part of Périgord, it is also called the “Venice of Périgord” or the “Island of Périgord”. An interesting natural phenomenon of several rivers meeting around the town has made it a flourishing island suitable for agriculture. I fell in love with this town immediately when I passed through it while visiting Périgord in 2010 and fell in love with it again in 2019 and 2020, so it is not surprising that I chose to live there.
Why is it worth staying in Brentom? Not only because of the beautiful monastery, the rivers that run through it and its small streets, but also because of its winning location in the heart Périgord The green.
Thanks to this location, you can visit a long list of attractions such as the Villars stalactite cave, the Chateau de Jumillac, the towns of Perigueux and Limoges, and dozens of other charming small villages. I lived there for about two weeks and left feeling like I could have stayed there for at least two more weeks and not gotten bored.
So if you too have decided to take my advice and live here for at least a week (or at least 3 days), let me recommend a number of hotels, vacation homes, and B&Bs that will be a great base for your next trip to Périgord.
My unequivocal recommendation for accommodation in Brentom
Rotem and Uri's house
This is my ultimate recommendation for accommodation in Brentum, which is why I put it first. Rotem and Uri arrived in Brentum in 2015 and set up a luxurious B&B in the heart of a magical forest, with warm hospitality, two cats and a lovely dog named Natasha. They offer an “all-inclusive” package with transportation, accommodation and guided tours. I traveled with them in May 2022 and enjoyed every moment – highly recommended!
Recommendations for hotels in Brentum
The Garden of Chouchoux
A 3-star boutique hotel that feels like a 4-star, owned by a charming English-speaking French couple. You will find very cozy and well-equipped rooms, a restaurant serving local food (I was told it was excellent) and even a pool. The hotel is wheelchair accessible.
Hotel-Restaurant Charbonnel
A 3-star hotel located in the center of Brentwood that I received several recommendations for. It is a larger hotel than the previous hotel, but what it and the previous hotel have in common is a very high-class restaurant where I had the opportunity to eat.
Moulin de l'Abbaye – Relais et Chateaux
This amazing 4-star hotel is on the banks of the river. The rooms are in three buildings and you want the rooms with a river view the most. The hotel has a Michelin-starred restaurant and a lovely bistro on the patio. If you want to pamper yourself – this is the place.
Villa Medici
A 3-star family hotel that offers much more. The rooms are decorated in a different style and all overlook the well-kept garden. Rich and homely breakfasts are served in the courtyard. Suitable for parents with children who want a safe and fenced garden.
Mill Vigonac
The magical hotel is located in an ancient 16th-century water station, on the riverbank and in a green and blooming environment. It offers luxurious 4-star accommodation, a swimming pool in a complex that looks like a small village, and highly recommended breakfasts and dinners.
Le Chatenet
A charming hotel that history buffs won't be able to miss! Located in a 17th century building that has been preserved intact, with a large park and heated pool. Very suitable for children with a play area, tennis court and pool table.
