Who doesn't know the Palace of Versailles?! Versailles and the surrounding area are much more than a magnificent palace, but a bustling city that serves as a center for nature walks in the Chavreuse Valley, ancient aqueducts, magical villages, and everything is really close to Paris.
How do I know? I lived there for ten years in the last house in the city, right inside the forest called the King's Forest, next to a village with an ancient aqueduct called Buc, from which you can continue your journey to a different world from Paris.
True, most tourists come for a day trip to the palace and return toParisBut if you want to combine a bit of Paris history and a bit of nature, lakes, streams, hiking trails and cycling trails, Versailles is right for you.

Recommended 3-star hotels in Versailles
Hotel des Lys
A charming and cheerful boutique hotel. I stayed there once when I was stuck without a key and looking for a hotel for the night. Excellent location near the train station, the palace and the market square of Versailles.
The rooms are cheerfully decorated with a sense of humor, a rich breakfast (relatively for France), a young bar and a great atmosphere. Do you like small, cute hotels with attention to detail and a smiling staff? I found it for you.

Spacious apartment for 6 – suitable for children
The wonderful apartment is located on Royal Street, right next to my son's clinic, Dorian. I looked forward to my treatments every week because of the amazing boulangerie on the street.
The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one for the children with a bunk bed, a master bedroom and a sofa bed for a couple in the living room. Although it is a little far from the palace it is more of a local Versailles, if you want to feel like part of the city and not the tourist in the city, you are in the right place. Don't forget to try the boulangerie.
