The French Alps are very popular with Israeli travelers, both for the winter ski vacations and for the fun family trips that can be taken there during the summer and spring.
When it comes For a trip to FranceThere is no doubt that the combination of amazing nature, charming towns like Grenoble, and attractions make the area a recommended place for family outings. Unfortunately, I have only been able to visit the area once, and that was during my childhood. However, in the coming years I definitely intend to “plow” the area and bring you impressions from the field. Until then, I am happy to rely on other Francophiles who have traveled there and come back with quite a few tips and recommendations.
Flights to the French Alps
The most convenient way to get to the French Alps is by flying to Geneva and then a short drive west. To help you easily find the best flights, I asked my good friends at Xplorer, which deals with finding particularly affordable flights, to give me the most affordable flights for the next three months, and you can find the result below.
Other options are to fly to Nice, Marseille or Lyon From there, rent a car and drive a few hours until you reach the French Alps. You can read more about these options in the following articles:
Accommodation in the French Alps
If you decide to visit the French Alps outside of the ski season, let me recommend that you stay in one of the following places, from which you can go stargazing in the area.
Skiing in the French Alps
Although I have never skied (and probably never will because my bones are precious to me), fortunately my dear friend Iris Booker has skied in the French Alps many times in her life and contributed two articles that can help you plan the perfect family ski vacation.
What else can you do besides skiing?

Public Transport
If you decide to reach the French Alps by public transportation, then it is recommended to fly to one of the places I mentioned earlier, or to Paris, and from there take a train to Grenoble, Annecy, or Evian.
You can find information about which trains are available and how much the tickets cost in the article. Trains in France.
Car Rental
If you want to travel between the different villages and towns in the French Alps, I highly recommend renting a car (when I was a kid we used buses and it was a nightmare).
Since this is not a cheap business, it is highly recommended to compare prices between several car rental sites. To make it easy for you to do this, I have created the The Francophile's toolbox, where you will find the sites I use when I intend to rent a car in France. All you have to do is choose the offer that is most profitable for you.
