Nantes Airport – Traveler Information

Nantes Airport (Nantes Atlantique Airport or NTE for short) is an international airport located 10 kilometers southwest of the city.

In terms of volume of activity, it is the third largest airport in the western region of France, ahead of Toulouse Airport and Toulouse Airport. Bordeaux.

Airport structure

The airport has one terminal, a two-story building in a large L-shape divided into 4 halls.

The ground floor is used for landings, while the upper floor is associated with takeoffs. In light of the extensive activity of the airport, which handles about 5 million passengers each year, Nantes was expanded and the fourth hall is actually a single-story structure located directly to the previous building and connected to it by a lobby.

Transportation to Vamanant

The airport is about 25 kilometers away. From the city of Nantes, and a private car ride can take only about fifteen to twenty minutes. The reason for this lies in the fact that the airport is located just outside the Périphérique de Nantes, a ring road that surrounds the city and connects to all its main roads.

Uber

The first and quickest option is to use this app or another one that I will recommend right below.

Uber is location-based, and after you download the app and enter your credit card information to pay for your ride, a map will appear. You need to pin your exact location, and Uber will scan and find available drivers nearby. As soon as drivers are located, you will receive details such as the driver's identity, rating, and vehicle type.

This is a service that is often more affordable than special taxis, and it allows for a quick and easy solution to available public transportation.

If you haven't downloaded the app yet, you can find it here:

Bolt

There's not much to expand on after I expanded on Uber. It's basically an app that provides the same service, just on behalf of a different company. The operation is pretty much the same and it's also based on a map that you stick a pin into.

These apps can be compared to Israel's Get Taxi, except that in our case it is an app intended only for taxi drivers.

You can download the app from these links:

Public Transport

As you probably already understood, the ways to get to the city are really, really convenient.

Outside the terminal there is an express shuttle called Navette Tan Air. It is important to note that the shuttle is not free and its cost, at least currently, is 9 euros. It can take you to Nantes train station and from there you can take internal lines to your desired district, or to the city center.

The service is part of Nantes' public transport network called Tan. It is important to note that the cost of a ticket for the line connecting the airport to the city is more expensive than the cost of travel on internal lines.

Car rental at Nantes Airport

As befits such a central airport, you will find plenty of car dealerships at Nantes Airport.

If you are just getting into town, it is really recommended to use the area's efficient public transportation. If you are planning to travel around western France, a car is definitely the right choice.

I have compiled comprehensive information on the subject for you in an article that deals with Renting a car in France.

Airport area hotels

Currently, most flights from Israel to Nantes arrive late at night while rental agencies are closed. In this case, it is recommended to take a hotel for one night in the airport complex and arrive at the castle the next morning. In the Nantes airport area, there are 3 hotels, each with a different price and level of pampering, so there is always an option for every budget. Here is the list of hotels:

B&B Hôtel Nantes Aeroport – Modest 2-star hotel

Stopover Oceania Nantes – A 3-star hotel that even includes a pool

Hotel Oceania Nantes – A relatively luxurious 4-star hotel

Tax refunds at Nantes airport

Is Nantes airport also your point of return to Israel? If you made purchases of 175 euros including VAT or more, you are entitled to claim the VAT back. Every euro counts.

It is important to know that EU residents are not eligible for a tax refund, and the age of the person requesting the refund must be over 16.

In many other articles on my website covering airports, I mention the location of the customs offices. The case of Nantes is different, and here the service for obtaining the VAT exemption is available in the boarding area for international flights.

You must present the products, which means you cannot put them in your luggage. Of course, it is recommended to consider purchasing various liquid products that may be confiscated and the like. And in general, consider whether it is really worth making the journey back to Israel from here rather than from another airport.

Have you booked a flight and are you preparing for a vacation?

Congratulations!
