If you ask many Israelis about the city of Strasbourg, you will get answers like: the capital of Alsace, the wine region or the Black Forest. The city has become established in the eyes of the Israeli tourist as a place where you land, rent a car and move on. I thought so too until I got to spend a few days in the city and ended up in Kisme. This article contains a series of recommended hotels and excellent vacation apartments and aims to help you find the place to stay that best suits your needs.
Both the hotels and the vacation apartments were handpicked by me based on personal experience and recommendations from people I trust. However, it is important to emphasize that it is certainly possible that there are high-quality hotels or apartments that were not included in the article, since I cannot know them all. Therefore, if you know of a great hotel that you would like to recommend, you are welcome to contact me.
Why is it worth staying in Strasbourg?
The first reason is, of course, that it is a green, vibrant city, full of attractions, museums, and parks. The second reason is the location – Strasbourg is a great starting point for trips along the wine route and throughout Alsace.
Luxury hotels in Strasbourg (4-5 stars)
Athena Spa
One of the most fun things to do after a day of sightseeing is to put on a bathrobe and go down to the hotel spa. A massage, sauna, pool or gym will give you the energy to continue tearing up the city in the evening. The hotel also offers indoor parking.
Regent Accounts, BW Premier Collection
The castle, converted into a luxurious hotel, overlooks the famous cathedral in the heart of the old quarter. The hotel has hosted kings and counts and offers royal hospitality and pampering such as a spa, pool, and fitness center. A visit inside the stories that shaped the city.
HANNONG Hotel & Wine Bar
A hotel dedicated to wine lovers. Beyond the excellent location and luxurious rooms, the hotel offers a wine bar with a rare collection of regional wines and a youthful atmosphere that also attracts many locals. Ideal before or after a trip on the wine route.
Hotel Cour du Corbeau
Listen, if you want to feel like royalty... French (Without the guillotine part), this is the place. One of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in Europe, with an interior courtyard that will take your breath away. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.
Hotel Les Haras
Once a royal stable, today it is one of the most stylish and chic hotels in the city. The combination of ancient wood and modern design is simply “wow”. There is also a great spa, because after a day of walking and sauerkraut, your back needs it.
Pavillon Régent Petite France
To awaken in the heart”France “Petite France” with the view of the canals and the cathedral in the window… It’s the kind of thing you only see in movies. An intimate, quiet and super romantic boutique hotel. If you’re on your honeymoon or just want to pamper yourself, this is the bingo.
Hotel & Spa The Golden Shield
In the heart of the most beautiful area of the city lies this gem. A spa hotel in a beautifully renovated historic building. The rooms are large (rare in France!) and the spa in the basement is a perfect place to escape to when it's cold outside. It feels like home, but like a very rich uncle.
Hotel LÉONOR
The new and the right one. A hotel that feels more like a huge, cool living room of your most stylist friends. The location is perfect (close to all the shopping you could want), the design is young and vibrant, and the bar downstairs is a great place to start the evening with a cocktail.
3-star hotels in Strasbourg that are worth more
ORIGAMI Hotel
The trendiest in Strasbourg. A modern and stylish hotel in a new building with an emphasis on environmental quality. If you want a special hotel that takes amazing photos for Instagram without sacrificing comfort and pampering – this is the place for you.

Hotel Restaurant Au Cerf d'Or
A hotel that is also a restaurant, offering an authentic Alsatian experience. If you like your wine with Cheese Fine or excellent locally produced sausage, this is the hotel for you. A warm, family-friendly experience in the city center.
Hotel Cathedral
The name says it all. You open the window and the cathedral is inside your room (almost). It can't get more central than that. In the morning you'll hear the bells, in the evening you'll see the lights. The rooms aren't big, but the location is a knockout.
Hotel Graffalgar
If you're tired of "normal" hotels with wall-to-wall carpets, come here. Each room is designed by a different street artist, an explosion of color and creativity. Close to the train station (very convenient with luggage), young and cool staff, and a price that leaves plenty for croissants.
Hotel Gutenberg
A classic boutique hotel in a strategic location – two minutes from the cathedral and two minutes from “Petit France”. The design is warm and cozy, the breakfast is excellent, and the staff is always smiling. A great option for those who want to be in the center of things without breaking the bank.
Hotel Diana Dauphine
Modern, clean, functional and incredibly comfortable. The rooms are spacious for Strasbourg, and there is air conditioning (critical in the summer!). It's not a hotel inside a medieval building, but sometimes all you need is a good shower and a soft bed in a great location.
Hotel Beaucour
A hotel built around a charming inner courtyard (hence the name), and feels like a small, quiet village within the city. Each room is decorated differently, with lots of character and refined Alsatian rusticity. The location by the river is a serious bonus for romantic evening strolls.
Budget Friendly Hotels
Hotel Etc…
Okay, this is not a palace. Versailles, but it's clean, it's insanely central, and it leaves you with a lot of money for wine and cheese. The rooms are simple but do the job. For those who come to devour the city and not the minibar in the room.
Hotel Patricia
Sleep in history for the price of a hostel. Located in the heart of the “Petit France” in an ancient building from the 16th century. Please note: there is no elevator (so pack light!), but the authentic atmosphere and crazy location make up for everything.
Hotel Des Arts
A cute little hotel at the end of the pedestrian street, a two-minute walk from the cathedral. The atmosphere here is that of “artists” (as the name suggests), light and non-binding. A basic and good breakfast, and a very fair price for such a location. Simple and to the point.

The last time I heard about Strasbourg it was all negative things. Thank you for making me fall in love with it all over again.
I would really love to visit Strasbourg. It seems like a lovely city.
Thank you Zvi for the detailed post.
Excellent article by you. First time I've come across this site.
I would appreciate an educated answer:
My Israeli daughter went to France about a week ago for a semester of study. She is in France with her boyfriend who is also Israeli. My daughter is vaccinated, the boyfriend is not vaccinated. They want to go next week on 17.9.21 for a weekend in Portugal.
My question is this: Since France is restricting the entry of unvaccinated Israelis into France starting on 9/13/21, when they return to France after the weekend, will they not let her boyfriend enter because he is unvaccinated? Is the restriction only for Israelis coming from Israel or for Israelis coming from any other country? I would appreciate a quick answer so that I can let her know if they will be able to travel this weekend at all.
The guidelines are not related to the people's citizenship but to where they came from.
Hello Zvi,
4 couples (aged 62-66) are planning to visit the Alsace region from May 10-17, 2026.
Landing in Frankfurt, travel to Strasbourg, stay for two days (since we have a car, we can take a hotel far from the center to save costs. Do you have any recommendations for such a hotel?).
The rest of the days we will spend the night in one of the beautiful towns and from there we will go on a trip every day. (Which town would you recommend staying in?)
I would appreciate your advice.
Thank you, Yaki.
Hi Yaki. Auvergne is an excellent option.
