The 17-year-old Emmanuel moves to Paris, but before leaving, he declares to Brigitte: "Whatever you do, I will come back and marry you!"
The triumph of love over convention

Brigitte divorced her husband, resigned from her job at the school in Amiens and moved to teach at a private school in the sixteenth arrondissement of Paris. The couple married in 2007.
