A guided tour of the hidden passages of Paris from “Le Halle” to the Palais Royal and beyond

From the “belly of Paris” to the Palais Royal

The LES HALLES market has existed since the 12th century and was considered a first-rate culinary center until it moved to Rungis, south of Paris (no wonder...Emile Zola He called the place “the belly of Paris”). So even though the market no longer exists, the area still has quite a few surprises to discover, from gastronomic establishments to 18th-century buildings that served as brothels for the rich and famous of the City of Lights. And in between, there are of course a few magical passages… But we’re a little late, so let’s start from the beginning 🙂

We will begin the trip with a journey through time and discover some of the oldest houses in Paris. We will continue through Montreuil Street On top of the many culinary attractions it holds, we will discover one of the most beautiful churches in Paris (and if we are lucky, we will listen to its organ). We will continue through some of the most charming passages in Paris, some better known and some less so. We will end withPalais Royal, where we will discover one of the first restaurants in Paris and meet a former Israeli singer with an interesting life story.

Where do we meet and when?

Outside the Arts et Metiers metro (line 3 and line 11) next to the cafe of the same name. The tour starts at 10:00.
